Why You’ve Failed at Internet Marketing

Ninety-Five percent of people who get into internet marketing fail. Why is that?

Fact: It’s not because it takes special skills that are over your head. Anyone can do it.

So what’s the problem? Why can’t you succeed, and be part of the small group of people who get to quit their day job and give the life to their families they’ve always wanted to?

The resources are out there. The opportunities are out there. There are millions of people every day trying really, really hard to spend their money online. But for some reason they evade you…

So here’s what’s missing: Direction and Action. Now it sounds really simple, but there’s a bit to it. I’ll start off with the first one.

Direction comes from understanding the objective of an internet marketer. For some reason the concept of our job is lost on most internet marketers. Our job is to provide a solution to people who have a problem. Every day millions of people search the internet for answers, and all we have to do is learn how to be the one who gives them that answer.

Stop over-thinking it. Stop overselling. Just help people. That is the first, and most important thing, and it will be what makes or breaks you as an internet marketer.

After you’ve grasped the concept that placing yourself in a position to help people solve their problems is how to break through in this industry, direction becomes easier.

There are tons of products out there that have some value that show you ways to get yourself between these people and their problems. The issue with most of these products though, is that they are just some other guys’ written down formula. They’re not providing true mentorship or answering any of your questions unless you’re willing to pay hundreds of dollars per hour, or several thousand to be in a workshop they put on with 500 other people.

You need real guidance. You need to be able to ask questions and have them answered. You need to have some help nudging you in the right direction as you put things together. You need some place to bounce ideas off of, and maybe to hear ways other people have done things successfully. And you need to see many ways to do things, so that you can decide what works best for you, rather than just one formula. And believe me, there are many ways to succeed in this business.

Now if you understand what it is we Internet Marketers do, and understand that you need to find some direction, and perhaps find yourself a mentor, there is one thing left: Action.

After totally misunderstanding our job, lack of action is the next biggest killer to Internet Marketers. Plenty of people do a lot of work early on, but if you never understood our true objective, you failed and gave up, and your action didn’t matter.

Once you understand what makes us our money, and put your efforts into helping people, all that’s left is taking massive action. Don’t worry about failing. You are going to. You already have, and it probably stopped you in your tracks at the time. Just fail, and learn. Then fail some more. You will find yourself learning quite a bit, and the faster you fail, the faster you learn, until all of the sudden you aren’t failing as much…and money starts rolling in. And faster than any other job you could pick up and learn in a couple of months.

You have to take action, and not care whether it works. Over-thinking our efforts and not taking action stunts your growth as an internet marketer to a huge degree.

So here is the formula:

  1. Understand Our Purpose
  2. Find Direction and Guidance – Mentorship or interactive training is a huge key to this
  3. Take Massive Action

It really is not very difficult, but most people fail at putting the three together. Now the first and third points are pretty simple. The second can be if you happen to know someone already successful, or you happened to really connect with an eBook or course you’ve had access to. But considering all three parts are equally important, I suggest you look a bit into finding some guidance and mentorship. The first and third part are all about you, and the 2nd is about finding the right place to learn, and people to learn from.

I have to ask you a question. This is a question that you probably have thought of before, but were giving yourself the wrong answer to it over the last couple of years. And even myself have been guilty of making this mistake when I first started out. The question that I would like to ask you is this: “What business are you in?”

Well if you said that you are in the auto repair business, the cosmetology business, the barber shop business, the grocery store business, or a pizza parlor… or any other kind of response like those just mentioned, then you’re answering this question WRONG. What do I mean when I say “wrong”? Well it’s simple.

No matter what business you think you’re in, the fact of the matter is that you’re in the “marketing” business. Yes, this is true. It doesn’t matter what kind of products you sell. If you can’t consistently bring in a flood of fresh new prospects on a daily basis, then your business may very well suffer.

All of your efforts should be boiled down to getting more new customers, and re-serving the customers who have already done business with you. With the focus of these 2 target audiences, you should have no problem with making more money in your business that you rightfully deserve.

With that being said, there are some things that you could be doing to improve your sales and profits on a daily basis. One of these strategies is direct mail. I’m a big fan of direct mail because this is how I initially launched my business. Direct mail is an easy concept to grasp hold of, so I’ll break it down for you easily.

The first thing you need is a list. Without a mailing list, who are you going to sell to? And I don’t mean randomly picking names out of a phone book or using a list broker. The 2 kinds of lists that you should be mailing to each and every month are your own customer list, or a list from the SRDS.

Do you know what the SRDS stands for? The SRDS stands for the “standard rate and data service”, and it contains lists of customers who have bought something from the phone, the mail, and even the internet. This is where I would start my direct mail campaigns from.

With you more than likely being a novice when it comes to marketing, you will want to do some more research about direct mail, and how it can increase your sales and profits with ease. It’s easy to fail with direct mail, so do your homework on how to make it work for you and your business.

I think you can use these direct mail tips to build a wildly successful business in your spare time. Like I said, direct mail can be easy if you know what you’re doing. Plus, you can even mail out postcards through the mail to generate leads for you and your products. This is a very potent strategy, so start using it today to your advantage.
